5 Social Media New Year’s Resolutions
Came across this article today and thought I should share it! (Original Article) We’ve all got our New Year’s resolutions – lose weight, be more active, save more money – but not all resolutions are for personal gain. Sometimes it’s good business to have a few resolutions for your company, as they give you something to shoot for during the year. One area you can look to for goals to achieve is your social media. You may have found over the course of 2011 you’ve become complacent and developed a [...]
Facebook Mixes It Up Again!
Facebook’s new changes have left many users upset and confused. The cartoon correctly describes how so many people deal with change (and not just technology changes). But, when it comes to Facebook, it’s something we’ve been through before and will indefinitely happen again. If you’ve been living under a rock the past week, here are some of the new changes (some that have launched and some that will be launching soon): You’re going to get a Timeline — a scrapbook of your life: This is a stream of information about you — the [...]
Tweeting, Checking In, and Texting to Win
While I’m not a huge proponent of foursquare on the level of personal use (I can’t honestly say I think people care about me filling up my gas, or going to the grocery store, or flying to Topeka, Kansas), I am intrigued by the idea that you can check in at an event via your phone. Foursqare’s application in this sense allows users to check-in upon arrival and sometimes digitally receive cool stuff- like free drinks at a bar or a free appetizer.I’m not sold quite yet on this fad [...]
Twitter reached 100 million active users!
Just a quick status update for those who think Twitter is a fad. Dick Costolo, CEO revealed Thursday that Twitter has 100 million active users logging in at least once a month and 50 million active users every day. The microblogging service has a total of 200 million registered users, but how many of those are actually regulars has been open to debate for some time (@Buckeye, we still want your username). Costolo, in an informal chat with tech reporters he called his “state of the union,” revealed that exactly half [...]
Events in a Social Media Society
My name is Jessica, and I am an addict…to my Blackberry. My friends make fun of me for being on my phone so often but my mobile device has been my most trusted and needed partner throughout this past year; helping me reply and send out hundreds of emails , answer phone calls, market my events on the go, and hold meetings while multitasking, while I am doing things like riding the bus or sitting between classes. I can’t imagine being an event planner sans smart phone in the world of [...]

Foursquare: Now You Can Check Into Events!
Lately, I’ve started to become more and more obsessed with the thought of checking in (I’m a late adapter – and have liked my whereabouts to be semi-private). However, with Buckeye Interactive applying more focus on hosting events and workshops, I feel it’s necessary to talk about Foursquare‘s newest feature that allows users to check into events – not just places. “It’s one of the most common checkins on Foursquare: you head off to a movie theater, check in, and type in ‘Harry Potter’ to tell people what you’re seeing. Or check in to [...]

Pucker Up | Your Customers Want A KISS!
A lot has been said and discussed about the change of consumer behavior and expectations, especially since the change in the way we get our information. I’ve read several blog posts this week about the acronym KISS (Keep It Simple, Stupid) and it’s no surprise consumers want their messages delivered instant and to the point. Blame it on SMS, Twitter, or the excessive amount of information we are exposed to daily, but today’s consumer wants a clear concise message. I’m obviously not the first person to use this acronym, but here are [...]
